Celebrating Milestones

This year came with a lot of…adjustments. While it has presented us all with new challenges, new schedules, and an excuse to wear sweatpants to work, there have also been more than a few positive moments to celebrate.

As we wrap up this wild year, we want to take a moment and share the things we’re proud of, and fully encourage you to make your own list of 2020 victories.

Arguably our most exciting milestone this year, has been hitting 6,000 members, globally(!!!!!!!).

Of all the goals we work toward, bringing people together and facilitating valuable connections, is chief among them. Thank you all for being a part of this Community and contributing in such substantial ways.

A few more major achievements include hosting:

  • The 500th official event with an Info Session in our developing Miami chapter.

  • The 1st All-Hands Board and volunteer meeting, attended by more than 125 people.

  • More than 25 virtual events, across interests and industries.

Among these virtual events were the annual Demo Nights. Traditionally we have hosted these in-person in San Francisco and New York. Obviously this year shifted that in some challenging ways, but we were able to expand these events and offer them to the whole community in a new way.

For the first time we will host FOUR all-virtual demo nights, welcoming 2 new global hubs into the fold, Europe and Asia. Given the nature of this new format, we were also able to specify industries.

  • 10th Annual New York Demo Night, E-Commerce and Retail

  • 6th Annual San Francisco Demo Night, HealthTech

  • 1st Annual London Demo Night, FinTech

  • 1st Annual Asia Demo Night

The Asia Demo Night will be held November 24th and will feature startups from across the region, from each of the new Asia chapters, developed in June of this year.

We are so excited to welcome Beijing, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Singapore — all thanks to the hard work of volunteers willing to dedicate their time to supporting founders and entrepreneurs in the region.

On top of all of this, we are also expanding programming for a few more specific communities by launching:

Women’s Initiative
HealthTech Initiative
Social Impact Initiative

All of this came with unique challenges and was facilitated by hundreds of CVC members who came together to support the whole community during a very difficult year.

We continue to work on expanding and elevating the experience we are able to offer. As we develop in new regions and new cities, it improves the experience for everyone and ultimately connects a wide and valuable network.

We look forward to seeing you all in person, hopefully sometime soon and will continue to improve our virtual offerings in the meantime. Have a strong end to your year and we look forward to what 2021 will bring.
